Desjardins caisses in east- and west-end Montreal and Montreal group caisses are proud to announce that they are renewing their commitment to the Desjardins Mutual Aid Funds and the Desjardins Microcredit to Businesses solidarity-based financing programs.
The Desjardins Mutual Aid Funds program is designed to help people experiencing financial difficulties. By offering budgeting tips and, if need be, tide-over loans, it helps people get a handle on their debt and steer clear of predatory lenders.
The Desjardins Microcredit to Businesses program is meant to encourage self-employed workers and entrepreneurs who do not qualify for conventional financing to start up or consolidate their business. It offers financing suited to their circumstances as well as close support services.
Real results all across the Island of Montreal!
Here’s how the Desjardins Mutual Aid Funds program has helped people so far:
- 10,494 people have benefited from group or individual meetings
- 3,455 people have received personalized support
- 1,766 small tide-over loans have been granted
The Desjardins Microcredit to Businesses program:
- Helped 96 businesses
- Provided them with 4,274 hours of support
- Helped maintain or create 160 jobs in the community
Over the next three years, the caisses will put up $1,830,000 for these two programs, which cover the entire Island of Montreal and are offered in partnership with five community organizations. It’s all part of how we demonstrate our cooperative difference!
